Rich in history.
The Cultural Exchange Network (CEN) is a coalition of key leaders from many of Michigan’s ethnic and cultural organizations, as well as leaders of Metro Detroit’s prominent bridge-building, arts, and cultural institutions.
The CEN serves as an important conduit for Southeast Michigan’s many ethnic communities to celebrate, educate, communicate, and collaborate with each other. With honor and respect in mind, CEN events highlight our communities’ contributions, histories, and presence.
Since it was first organized over 35 years by New Detroit, Inc., the Cultural Exchange Network (CEN) has been a successful tool and an important force for bringing communities together. The CEN launched the Concert of Colors world music festival, the annual Detroit event. More recently, the CEN has evolved into a brand new entity and, ironically, is now a program of the Concert of Colors.
In furtherance of its goals, the CEN puts on quarterly, insightful luncheons for coalition members in collaboration with leading arts and cultural institutions. Such gatherings help strengthen the region’s tapestry and quality of life.
Coalition Membership
Currently, the CEN is made up of a growing coalition of American communities including: African, Arab, Armenian, Asian & Pacific Islander, Black, Caribbean, Chaldean, Eastern European, Greek, Indigenous Peoples, Italian, Irish, Jewish, Latino, Muslim, South Asian, and more.
